1:1 Private Yoga
There are infinite ways to practice yoga and mindful movement. What will be most effective and productive for you depends a lot on your postural habits, other forms of physical activity you engage in, and even your lifestyle. Yoga was traditionally passed down from teacher to student in private and small group environments. This is because yoga should and can be tailored specifically to the individual- attending to your specific body, breath, and mental and emotional state to leave you feeling balanced and ready to gracefully move through life. Private yoga sessions are the perfect way to work with special health concerns, or injuries, as well as simply having an hour of one-on-one attention and hands-on adjustments that just aren't possible in a yoga class setting. And as you change, grow, and deepen your practice, the practice will change with you. My private students have ranged from 8 to 86 years old, and each one needs a practice as unique as they are. Some do very little movement besides our sessions, and some are looking to find balance in their body from a lot of training in other movement, like running, biking, or training for triathlons. Each requires a very different practice. Sometimes we are working specifically to improve limitations in strength or range of motion, and sometimes it’s more about cultivating balance and a sense of peace so you can bring your best self to all you do. I often hear the phrase "Oh, I can't possibly do that." It's not that you can't, you just can't yet. Let's get there together.
Privates sessions can be a one time gift for yourself or someone else, weekly or bi-weekly, or even monthly or bi-monthly.
Children/Tween/Teen Yoga
One of my specialties is working with children on the cusp of adolescence as they make their way to adulthood. This can be an especially confusing and anxiety inducing time, full of transition and uncertainty. Yoga offers a plethora of tools to help maintain calm in the midst of chaos. Each session utilizes fun and engaging movement, breathing techniques, visualization, and relevant and down to earth yoga philosophy all in a specifically age appropriate manner in order to bring kids back to their natural state- joy and curiosity for life. Over the years, I have worked with many children with special needs- those with high anxiety and/or anxiety disorders, those on the autism spectrum, low muscle tone, trans children, and more. Each child deserves to find ways to cope with the stressors of life. It is my aim to help each to find tools of self regulation specific to them so that they thrive.
2:1 Private Yoga
So you know someone who wants to try yoga? A 2:1 Private session is all the benefits of a 1:1 that you get to share with your friend/parter/child. Some find it can be a nice way to bond with a friend or loved one (as well share the expense!)
Small Group Sessions
You talked to a few friends and now there's interest in having a yoga and wine night? Sounds like a blast! It's still intimate and personalized, with lots of attention and hands-on adjustments for the folks in the room but also a fun way to spend time with friends. The cost-sharing aspect is just another benefit!
Special Events
I have had the privilege of teaching yoga and meditation for a variety of special events, whether adding a bit of lighthearted mindfulness to a bachelorette party or baby shower, helping a bride release her pre-wedding jitters, or simply adding something new to a family or friend gathering. I have even been asked to attend a week long vacation amongst friends to create an impromptu private yoga retreat. Get in touch if you have an event you’d like to discuss!
